Get to work right at 9:00 AM. That's what your work schedule calls for.
Is
the boss going to order you to report for work an hour and a half early?
That would give you an opportunity to confront him about additional
compensation or compensatory time off. This is the place to begin.
Then can you find a way to get home -- bus, train, ride share -- that requires you to leave at 5:00 on the button? That's what you might work on next. And then there's the question of being pressured to work through lunch. Maybe you could find a lunch-time meeting group -- a self-help discussion, a book discussion, or the like -- to attend a couple of times a week. Now you're beginning to take your time back -- and to fill that time with new activities. Once you've taken control over your time -- and your life -- you might discover that you feel younger, rather than older, than your 47 years! And you might find not only a better job but more self-satisfaction across the board. |
