Co-worker gets away with murder!
Posted by: PB on December 11, 1998 at 12:54:38:

I have a co-worker who just drives me mad! She is such a "slacker" and she's lied to me on several occasions because she knows I get irritated by her lack of a work ethic (she has no integrity, so I'm really not sure why she cares what I think, except I think my obvious disapproval of her intimidates her). She somehow is allowed to "work from home" some days, and I know for a fact she is off doing other things, and getting paid for it! I mean, she doesn't even bring her laptop home! My husband says she "must have the goods" on someone in the organization to be allowed to get away with what she does, and I'm beginning to think he is right. She's getting paid full time for doing part time work, and the worst part is, she just got a "promotion" and got responsibilities taken AWAY from her and given, in part, to me! She already didn't have enough to do to be able to leave early and come in late all the time. I don't mind doing the extra responsibilities because I asked for more work, but it bothers me it came from HER, who has even less to do now. Now, she has even more time on her hands to come in late every day, leave early, "work from home" and lie about what she's doing. We have the same boss, whom we both adore, but she's (the boss) not all that aware of things like this because she is so busy (and my co-worker is very savvy...knows just what to say to whom). We work for a non-profit, and I have big concerns over the efficiency of the organization, if they are allowing a person like this to put in part time hours for full time pay. The money could be going to the clients we serve--people who really need it. I am also the type of person who thinks everyone should be treated fairly and the same (what can I say? I'm an identical twin and was raised that way.), so this is a big stresser to me. I just don't think one person should be allowed to get paid for taking care of personal business like meeting with someone to refinance your house, visiting people... (truncated)
