When I was told about the pay, I was a bit disappointed, as it seemed a really tough job, and I had worked for them previously for much more. I told the HR Manager I would take the job, but I wasn't pleased with the pay. She rang me back 10 minutes later with a 20% raise! : Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I was offered a job and they tried to lowball me on the salary. I had determined beforehand how much I needed to be paid in order to make the job worthwhile and told them that their offer was too low. They offered more money before I even left the room. The important thing to remember is that employers usually have a range they can pay for a certain job and they'll usually start at the low end and work their way up. Don't accept the first offer! It's usually a good strategy, but I worked with a guy who took a job because he had to get into the field, first; but the company lowballed him and told him that they could get three other people in to fill the job in 10 minutes, so take it or leave it. It's not always so cut and dry. Follow Ups Back to Kickin Brass WWWBoard created by Matt Wright and can be found at Matt's Script Archive WWWBoard 2.0a2b updated by James Kent 05/08/98. |
