: : I've been working for the company for almost 8 years - yet I am still who I am when they first employed me. I've done my best and always being a dedicated staff. But I am dissapointed that nobody seems to recognise my contribution. I was thinking how could I develope my career here if there's no improvement in my prospect - people will say "she's just a lousy worker, that's why she's going nowhere..." but the problem is I am getting a steady increment and a good income but just a lousy clerical status - it's a very bad impression on me. I can't easily apply for an executive level job because of my history of 8 working as clerical (but getting an executive salary) How sad.....and so disapointed

: I know several people that have been in a situation like this. The only way that you will be noticed/promoted is if you do it yourself. During your review (monthly, annual, whatever time period you have) bring along a list of any and all projects, jobs, special contributions that you have personally been involved in. Mention them to the person giving you your review. If this isn't possible, find a position to which you would like to be promoted, apply and argue your case. A great many supervisors/managers take their employees for granted and don't notice those little things that make them a great employee. They will never notice you as promotion material unless you point out to them what a great job you are doing. Good luck!

No offense, but you also might want to improve your presentation. I know I'm not always careful when writing email, but both your grammer and spelling could use some help if you truly aspire to an executive level position. Check out your local community college and see if they have a class in effective writing or speaking. If you can present yourself in a way that says executive level material, it may help. Best of luck.
