Unfair Treatment Posted by: terpfan on July 19, 1999 at 09:17:58: I was recently involved in a heated argument with an ex-staffer in my office, during which he became agressive, threatened me, to which I responded by setting him straight on some issues. I was in the process of making him aware of other issues that never were addressed prior to his termination (in response to his allegations of poor treatment by me), and I blocked his exit by standing in front of the door to my office. When he challenged me to "go outside and finish it", I responded by calling him a litte "piece of ----", and basically told him what I thought about him. He then left shortly afterward, no physical contacat made. As a result, I have been demoted, reprimanded, and made to feel as though I cannot lose my cool one ioata. This for a company for whom I have worked for 25 years, with no prior history of discipline. The kicker is, my replacement was of the same ethnic backround as the ex-staffer and the upper management person who made the decision to demote me. I need some honest feedback...was I totally out of line? Did I deserve such severe discipline? Am I a victim of reverse discrimination? Please help, if you can, I am at wit's end. Follow Ups
