Only female on the floor Posted by: Samantha D. on April 13, 1999 at 15:06:27: I'm the only female sales engineer for a data security company.I was the first sales engineer to get hired in this company.The first couple of months were fine and everything went well,I managed to get some nice sales and even the Head Office congratulated me upon this.After 6 months I got a new colleague.I was told to give him half of my newly setup customers.At first I thought well never mind but as time went by I felt that he also should have started the hard way.Yet I had to listen to my boss.After another 5 months I got yet again a new colleague and the same thing happened.This time I tried to stand up for myself but I had to listen to my boss.In the meantime another colleague joined and you can guess what happened.It has been getting harder to get new customer leads and my boss is getting nervous that sales aren't up and taking it out on me.This made me get even more frustrated and got me disliking my job.I confronted him with what was going on and he said that the clients I am handling were not only mine and that the new people had to have the possibility to start somewere.I said if I could do it they could to or they were the wrong people for the job.Well since then my boss has not got any nicer and I have become a lot harder and do not let everybody tell me what to do anymore.I feel that I get little respect from the new guys and that they think what does she know about software and PC's.Well they can go f**k themselves.I have promised myself to do this work for another year and then go on for I will have enough experience and a large scala of possibilities then.
