I waited tables for a SHORT while, and since I'm going through college I've returned to hostessing. I did that for 2 years in high school. I cry before I go to work because all of the customers are so hateful. They don't really hurt my feelings anymore, it's just that you know that when you step foot inside the restaurant, at least one party is going to make your life miserable because there are no seats left in the building or they don't like what's on the hot bar. They bring their whole family and there's 20 of them total and they wonder why there's not a big huge table for 20 available right on the spot on a weekend night!!! Or they bring all of their kids at the first of the month after they cash their "government" checks and the kids splash milk all over the windows and they play with the strings on the blinds and they run around until the waiters nearly fall over them. People who work in restaurants get treated like dogs by most of the customers who are too stupid to realize that maybe they work there to pay for college or just because they believe in having a job! Let me also rave that most of the time when I run to Walmart to pick up something I see some of the customers from the restaurant in the store, and I am dresses better than they are. My best friend works in a restaurant and drives a new Ranger and someone asked him,"You drive THAT?" Like we eat the crust of humility or something. Some of the finest, cleanest people I've ever met either once worked in restaurants or they still work in restaurants.
