: : : : Marian,
: : : : All of us have known how hard waitressing is, has been, and will be. Due to the nature of the work, the abuse, long hours, sometimes thankless efforts, it is considered to be a low end job and treated that way. I have met many people who wanted to pickup part time work, performed the waitressing jobs. We, as a country eat out at restaurants more than anyone else in the world, but the servers are treated ugly. I wonder if all the waitresses went on strike, what the people would do...cater the food? ha! dont think so for very long! Thanks for your help Marian.

: : : :
: : : : : I know my sister waitresses have stories to tell, angst to vent---How is it this is practically the only "profession" that is not addressed on this site? I am looking for anecdotes, experiences, gripes, etc to compose a "tell-all" Anyone?

: : : am writing an aarticle on how to survuve being a student supporting yourself on waitressing. would appreciate any tips, tales and any other info.

: : i'm am planning to start out at a fat pace restaurant as either a hostess or a waitress, what tips would help me with this difficult and refirous line of work. Is there a certain way to help me with my line of memory so I can remember customers orders. I'm going to be a rookie at it, so I can use all the help I can get.

: Mary Elizabeth, while in kitchen, consolidate steps by mentally "picturing" each table, get everything needed for all tables if possible, and continue to "circle' around. As far as orders, write them down as soon as you get them, but not in front of them. use position numbers starting from the same point each time. star the women, so you know to give them their food prior to the men.

: I am a student surviving on two waitressing jobs. I would be happy to answer questions. 10 yrs. experience. Erin
