About
the Position
Working closely with and reporting directly to Executive Producer Marc
Weiss, the Coordinator of Planning and Administration will focus primarily
on organizational coordination, development, and communications. In
keeping with priorities established by the President, the Coordinator
will concentrate on three types of activity:
- Planning:
The Coordinator will oversee the organization's internal and external
planning processes, convening, agendizing, and facilitating staff
meetings, project planning processes, consultative meetings with advisory
boards, etc., maintaining a comprehensive calendar incorporating all
relevant events and deadlines, and overseeing other activities necessary
to ensure that work proceeds in an efficient, timely manner.
- Administration:
The Coordinator will supervise financial, personnel, legal and
other administrative matters, maintaining records, issuing regular
reports as directed, working with consultants (e.g., accountant, attorney,
etc.), managing staff hiring, benefits, etc. and coordinating efforts
with the President as needed. The Coordinator will also oversee some
of the organization's income-producing projects, assuring efficient
relationships with vendors, clients and partners.
- Communications:
The Coordinator will ensure that Web Lab's correspondence and telecommunications
are maintained in a manner appropriate to inquiries and to the organization's
needs, responding directly to inquiries within his/her purview and
ensuring that other inquiries are directed to appropriate staff members.
Currently, there are no supervisory responsibilities, but as administrative
staff are added in the future, they will report to the Coordinator,
who will oversee their work assignments and evaluations.
This position
is our organizational backbone, maintaining the infrastructure necessary
to support a range of creative projects. Ideally, the successful candidate
will have the following qualities:

Comfort and facility with organizational systems, including strong
skills in planning, facilitation, management, and communications

The ability to create clear, accessible written communications
and good oral communication skills
- The ability to work with a diverse array of professionals in
administrative and creative specialties

The ability to reconcile differing viewpoints, arriving at workable,
creative compromises that move the organization's mission forward

The ability to maintain equilibrium and a positive outlook under
the pressures of a busy, growing organization

Self-motivated and able to handle multiple projects

Experience in new media preferred, but not required

Salary
range in the 30's, depending upon previous experience, with opportunity
for increases as organization expands. Web Lab is an enthusiastic equal
